Shoot during the "Golden Hour" to take advantage of the wonderful lighting.

This photo has background lights that are dreamy and blurred. This blurry background effect is called BOKEH. (It’s a Japanese word.) Set you camera to the smallest F/stop of 5.6. This will allow the foreground to be in focus and the background out of focus. Keep the ISO setting as low as possible so that the photo does not become grainy. Then take a shot!

My annual album is growing and I am keeping up to date! Remember to sand the edges of the photos because there is no matting.

Group the embellishments rather than scatter them all over the page. Have the largest element in the centre with the smaller elements radiating out from it.

Blackboards

 Blackboards are one of the hottest trends in decor these days, so why not incorporate them on your scrapbook pages as well?  To make an easy blackboard use black card stock and a white pencil to give the illusion of chalk.

Glenda Cressy used a blackboard on a wedding page that she made during one of my classes recently.

Diamond Stars

In next week's class you will be making diamond stars.... so look for photos that would suit a star theme. I used Disney photos.

Options for photos required: 
3 to crop; 3 verticals
3 to crop; 1 vertical; 2 horizontals  
1 vertical; 4 horizontals

Quick Valentine's Card

Use an empty toilet roll and shape to form a heart.

 When you are happy with the shape, dip it into paint and stamp onto card stock.

 Cut and fold a card using your scoring board.

 Add washi tape to the card, fold a paper clip into a heart,

 thread a tag onto the paper clip and clip over matting, and write on the tag. 

 Card done in a jiffy!

You can also use the toilet paper heart on a page like I did for this 2010 Scrapfest page.

Keeping Score

 I am not a great lover of gadgets. Most of you who know me know that if I have a craft knife, steel ruler and cutting board I can can do almost anything. BUT this gadget is really great. It is a scoring board. It is wonderful for card making and scrapbooking. The bone folder stretches the paper into the little grooves, perfectly straight every time, giving you that perfect groove to fold on.

 The above page was made by Reinette De Villiers and the judges felt that the earthiness and roughness of the page worked particularly well with the photos. The page flowed well from one side to the other with just the right amount of gap between the wedges and the detail of stitching on the embellishments and the stitching on the bunting made for a overall winning page. CONGRATULATIONS REINETTE!
